Series 3 Episode 14 - Natural Magic and Dire Property

Jethro takes a fall for his major client; and Judd’s devotion to duty gets him in hot water. As Van and Munter find strange forces at work…

Judd’s fortunes take a turn for the unexpected when his business partner, Mike dies on the job. A surveillance job. Grandpa finds this hard to believe, but Judd thinks he’s just cynical. Judd assures his main client, Gary, that he’s up to play with arrangements. But then, after Mike’s wake, he witnesses a robbery on site. Oddly, the robbers seem to have a key to the place.

As Judd investigates he gets the feeling that this is a scam, involving the transport company and Gary. Judd is in a quandary, which is not much helped by Grandpa and Falani, who deride his naivety. Judd confronts Gary and insists he has to be allowed to runt things ethically. At this, Gary pulls the rug on Judd entirely: and cancels the security contract, blaming the insurance company. Judd knows he’s been shafted, and all the more galled when Cheryl seems not to see that anything is amiss here. He eventually convinces her, but he’s his moral stand has come at a high cost . . .

But when we’re together we’re not two, we’re like more than two.Munter

Meanwhile, Van and Munter are considering their future. They want a career, but can’t decide on the best option. As part of their research, they go to hire some DVDs, as Loretta has to leave in search of rental premises. Against her better judgement, she leaves Van and Munter in charge. She returns to find they’ve . . . done a good job. So much so that she even hires them for another day, which is when freaky things start happening. As Van leaves to get burgers, everything goes pear shaped for Munter. On Van’s return, things miraculously return to normal. The same thing happens when Munter has to leave on an errand for Kasey. The guys start to believe they are powers at work here. So inspired, they turn down Loretta’s offer of future work. They need to find a career that will capitalise on the united force of Van and Munter. But it might take them a while to work out what that is . . .

Jethro meanwhile finds that Treena’s concept of an open relationship has extended to sleeping with a rival developer. This is revealed at Gary’s party, where Jethro also trashes the host’s birthday cake. As a result, he meets an attractive caterer, Danielle – only to find she’s Gary’s ex-wife. Despite Gary’s instructions to keep Treena on the leash, Jethro has had enough and dumps her. But the next day, as he intervenes a dispute for Gary he also takes a fall and ends up with a broken leg. Jethro is now laid up, at the mercy of his family, and also in Gary’s debt, as Gary has hired in help to look after him. The upside is: it’s Danielle. She rescues Jethro from the torturing attentions of Loretta, and then asks a favour herself. She needs a lawyer to sort some property matters with Gary. Despite the ethical issues, Jethro offers to help. It seems she’s owed more money than Gary has made out. Danielle is grateful, and Gary is not a little pissed off. But Jethro coolly denies any involvement. But even if she likes Jethro, Danielle is also wary of further involvement, leaving Jethro at the mercy of Treena.

But now as Cheryl goes to argue Judd’s case with Gary, she’s in for a surprise. Since Gary’s been hit with a big bill from his ex-wife, he now claims he has no option but to call in Cheryl’s loan. She has thirty days to repay the $120,000.
