Series 4 Episode 8 - Guilty Creatures
Cheryl’s dodgy dealings come back to haunt her, and no one is safe from the most powerful force in the land.
Cheryl is wrangling her recalcitrant staff, when the Hoochie Mammas receive a visit – Candy and her team of accountants from the IRD. They’re here for the audit. . .
Cheryl knew nothing of this, because it’s gone through Gary’s accountant, Tanya, who is now conveniently in the Cook Islands. Kasey and Rochelle panic about the invisible parties, but Cheryl is confident that her accounts are fine and all will be well if Rochelle and Kasey ‘Do Not Speak’ to Candy. But also it now seems that Kasey and Rochelle have been putting the odd dodgy claim through the Hoochie books. Cheryl is not impressed. Paranoia spreads as Kasey fears for the parlous state of her personal taxes and also puts the wind up Munter. This panic infects Van, as Candy arrives at West House to drop off a key. Cheryl is annoyed with Rochelle and Kasey, and further chagrined when Judd realises what’s going on. He doesn’t have to say ‘I told you so’ for Cheryl to feel as if he’s her conscience. This puts a slight dampener on their renewed relationship.

Cheryl’s hopes of avoiding scrutiny are now dashed as Candy and her accountants arrive with all Tanya’s files, the ones that contain the dodgy party information. Cheryl tries to lie her way around this, but Candy makes it clear that she’s picked the pattern, but – it’s Gary Savage she’s after. Any information that would help locate him would assist Cheryl’s cause. And also, she wants to talk to Kasey. Cheryl confronts Wolf, wanting info on Gary, but he refuses to co-operate. As Kasey is relieved to discover that Candy’s isn’t after her for taxes – she wants some custom made lingerie. Kasey’s delighted, but Cheryl fearful, when she finds Kasey has invited Candy for dinner. She shares her woes with Judd, who suggests that maybe she should come clean. The guilty Cheryl does not respond well. Munter discovers the IRD are coming for dinner, so he and Van decide to go into temporary hiding, in a secret location. They enjoy the life of an outlaw in the west basement, as Kasey is finding that Candy isn’t such a bad person. But the underwear fitting ends in an interesting place . . .
Loretta finds Van and Munter in hiding, and sends them back out to work, as Cheryl and Rochelle are shocked to hear that Candy propositioned Kasey. Rochelle thinks Kasey should take one for the team to save them from peril, but Cheryl is adamantly opposed. And now she admits to Judd that he’s right, that she needs to fall on her sword and come clean. But when she arrives to do this very thing, she finds Candy packing up. She’s satisfied with the Hoochie books, and in fact Cheryl is due a refund.
A confused Cheryl finds Kasey, distraught. It seems that Candy’s final underwear fitting ended up in bed, and this was discovered by Van, and Munter. Cheryl has been saved from the IRD, but at a price. Kasey and Munter are over.
Meanwhile, Wolf is disturbed to find Loretta visiting Nicky at the gym, to talk ‘business’, a cleaning contract. Wolf gets the clear implication of flirting and tries to warn Loretta off Nicky, but she won’t be warned. Sheree is surprised to hear that Nicky is interested in Loretta, but begins to see advantages – as Wolf lets Nicky know that Loretta is not to be trusted. She always has an ulterior motive for everything. Nicky fronts Loretta and finds this is indeed true: she has an interest in a certain banker named Lloyd, and plans for certain cash that comes into his branch. But Nicky is not put off to hear this at all, in fact, he’s now even keener to be involved with Loretta…
