Here are some of the things I do and do not believe in

My name is Loretta West and here are some of the things I do and do not believe in:

Until such time as I am given concrete evidence to the contrary, I will not believe in God or any other superhuman and supernatural being. Anyone who claims to be in touch with such a being or to speak the word of such a being or to represent such a being on Earth, is trying to sell you something.

‘Right’ and ‘wrong’ are lines drawn in the sand by people who want you to do what they say. If you’re not doing what they think you should be doing, then what you are doing must be, somehow, wrong.

Not that it matters what you do in this world, because whatever you do, people will always doubt your motives. If you save a drowning man, there will always be someone thinking ‘but she only did it because she was guilty he was drowning in the first place’. This is not fair.

Not that this should come as any surprise, because life will never be fair, so there is no reason to accord it any fairness in return.

This goes double if you are a woman in this man’s world.

People are capable of change. They sometimes have to be forced into it, but they can change. Not that anyone will believe you have changed. (See point re: fairness above.)

Saying sorry is not an impossible thing to do, but it is an easier thing to do when you have a reason to say sorry and a reason why you want to say sorry.

A sister driven into desperate terms

Lonely Loretta seeks company from Pascalle and Grandpa, but both of them have better things to do with their time. Loretta is appalled to find Grandpa is engaged to Ngaire and comes to the house to confront him. But her plan to be reasoned goes out the window when she realises that Pascalle is on with Nicky.

The Tool Guys, meanwhile, are aggrieved with their terrible workload and present their woes to Loretta. They expect her to be unsympathetic, but she decides to take on more workers. Aaron Spiller is inspired to hear this. Van and Munter fear they will be replaced – and find that Loretta has hired two new Tools, none other than Aaron and The Gooch. This makes them even more paranoid, but Munter is confident that Aaron and The Gooch will suck at tooling. But a further shock is in store. Not only have Tool Guys 2 finished all their jobs, but The Gooch is an actual qualified builder! Now they feel that Loretta is playing dirty and something must be done to oust the interlopers. Van and Munter hit upon the plan of separating their rivals, and making their lives so miserable that they will have to quit. But Aaron instead finds the tool guys no-sex code inspiring and vows to be a better person and The Gooch is motivated by their exacting standards. Van and Munter are forced into direct action: they fire Aaron and The Gooch and rip off their T shirts.

But we’re the originals man. You can’t replace the originals.Van

Loretta tries to address Pascalle about Nicky’s evil plan. Pascalle refuses to believe he’s after her money, but is shocked to hear that he was in on the bank robbery. Pascalle confronts Nicky and he talks her round, as Sheree is concerned to hear that Loretta is causing trouble. Nicky is confident that they can ride this out, but Loretta keeps up her stalking of Pascalle, so Sheree decides to deal to her.

She points out that Loretta is ousted and hated, while Sheree is in a good position to look out for the interests of her and her brother. Loretta has even more reason to stalk Pascalle, to warn her that Sheree is in on the plan. But Pascalle has had enough of Loretta’s crazy paranoia and wants nothing more to do with her. Loretta, at a low ebb, seeks support from Grandpa, only to find that she is not wanted at his wedding.

Loretta decides to go to the centre of power – Cheryl. But as she seeks her, she finds something even more interesting: Van and Sheree, in flagrante. This gives Loretta excellent ammunition for blackmail. Sheree panics, but Nicky is confident he can get around Loretta, with cash. But to his shock, she chucks the money. Talked around by Van, she doesn’t spill the beans on him and Sheree (not yet) but Loretta beards Cheryl and even makes an apology, Cheryl however doesn’t buckle. If Loretta’s sorry, maybe she should tell that to Wolf.

The Tools inform their manager that they’ve fired Aaron and the Gooch, but are now shocked to find that they were going to get a cut of the extra cash. They could get rich by doing nothing! They quickly rehire Aaron and the Gooch, and are left to marvel that Loretta was actually sincere. Wonders never cease. And this turns out to be true, as Loretta makes a big decision …

And goes to visit Wolf in prison. He is not pleased to see her, but she insists needs his help, and she’ll make it worth his while . . .

Kylie asks: when is season 4 starting in australia on foxtel?

Hi Kylie,

It’s up to the broadcasters granted exclusive licences by South Pacific Pictures or the international distributors of the programme to decide when to play it. We simply produce it. Your best bet is to contact your local TV network.

Thanks!
