Series 4 Episode 12 - Let them throw millions

When Pascalle is blessed, Loretta feels cursed. And Van has to do some very important remembering of roots past.

Hoochie is still not a world of happiness, for reasons to be revealed, but a bearer of good news turns out to be bringing Milt’s final bequest to Pascalle. Which turns out to be millions of dollars . . . Loretta is annoyed when Nicky plans to bail for a do at her old house, but insists she wouldn’t go back there if you paid her. Until she finds that Pascalle has come into a fortune.

Judd finds Lloyd in a bad way and feels compelled to stop him from drunk driving. As Pascalle’s party to celebrate her good fortune makes her realise there’s much to be done. Cheryl is upset when Judd arrives (with Lloyd) but she takes her ire out on Loretta, who is still banned. As now Pascalle decides to fix the ills of the nation. She believes that Cheryl is upset about Judd’s new liaison (and we find this is true). Pascalle takes Cheryl shopping, which ends badly. Then Pascalle suggests that Loretta could find a way back to the family (and her fortune), but only if Loretta performs various tasks, set by Pascalle, including paying for Wolf’s defence and smiling more. Loretta takes umbrage at this, though Nicky seems amused. Pascalle is upset when Judd is not about to be bribed to get back with Cheryl, and has similar problems with the Hoochie girls. Loretta decides she needs to make a concession with Pascalle, but when she comes to do so, she finds her thunder has been stolen. Nicky has offered to pay for Wolf’s defence . . .

Don’t you think if I auto-rooted her, I’d remember it bro’?Van

Loretta smells a rat and confronts Nicky about being after Pascalle for her money. Nicky claims to be doing this for his sister. But if Loretta is clearly so paranoid, then this is over. Loretta takes this summary break-up as more proof of her theory that he’s after Pascalle – and he won’t get away with it. She goes to warn Pascalle, who doesn’t believe Loretta at all. Though she then finds Nicky in the house. But it seems innocent enough . . .

Pascalle gives a present to Sheree and gets all the love and gratitude that she has been wanting from her other charity cases. She also gets some good advice. Pascalle decides she’s giving nothing away again as there’s a stoush at the pub, where a distraught Lloyd goes out on a limb. Literally, as he tries to destroy a billboard, featuring his image. The hero here is Judd and Cheryl sees it.

Pascalle has finally made some difference – as, at Lloyd’s party, he reveals that he has a new future, and a new business, thanks to his investor, Pascalle West. Cheryl makes efforts toward détente with Judd, but now feels it’s too late. And this is where we find that Loretta was entirely right: that Nicky, with a nudge from Sheree, has realised that there is a better, wealthier sister to focus on . . .

Meanwhile, Van is kind to pregnant Sheree, who realises she might have to discuss ‘that night’. Van is confused about which night, then comes to realise which night it was – Kasey’s birthday night. Is it possible he sleep drunk drove, while wasted, auto-rooted Sheree and didn’t remember? The answer it seems, is yes, though Sheree is offended that Van can’t remember. Van decides he has to do the right thing and reveal all to Wolf, but Sheree doesn’t want him to. Even so, Van lets her know that rooting her would be like a dream come true . . .

So we end with Cheryl chagrined; Loretta alone and out in the cold; and Sheree getting it on with Van. Touched by his appeal, she has decided to jog his memory . . .
