Series 4 Episode 17 - Dangerous conjectures

Some mysterious happenings and rude surprises mean Cheryl, Van, Pascalle and Grandpa all get to count the cost of love.

Cops raid a couple of lock-ups. Inside they find the remaining money from the W.S.B robbery. When Nicky finds out about loss of his cash, he confronts Loretta, sure she is responsible. She denies having shopped him to the cops – and oddly, her money is missing as well. Nicky smells a rat.

Meanwhile, Cheryl is dealing with a shock; and Grandpa and Ngaire seem to have different ideas about their wedding. Ngaire is bent on extravagance under the misapprehension that Ted will pay. Cheryl is certain that once Grandpa finds out, he’ll call it quits. Judd shoulders the burden of giving Grandpa the bad news. As Pascalle deals with her temperamental designer, Kasey, who wants to do more work on the bag, but is scared to tell Cheryl. Pascalle beards Cheryl, only to have her mother misconstrue her big announcement. As Pascalle denies that she’s pregnant, she finally realises that Cheryl is knocked up – and hasn’t told Judd. As Cheryl justifies that she doesn’t want to try and trap him, she and Pascalle are in for another shock. Wolf is out and in the house.

No, we can do much better than that love. Shit, we’ve barely gotten started.Wolf

He wants words with Pascalle to put her off Nicky, but Pascalle is tired of interference from Wolf, who always hates and even kills her boyfriends. Cheryl is shocked to discover that Loretta helped facilitate Wolf’s release, but at first doesn’t heed Wolf’s warnings about Nicky. Nicky is thrown to hear that Wolf is out, and picks the conspiracy between Wolf and Loretta. Even though Nicky is plotting his next move, Sheree panics and warns Van that he mustn’t say anything. She also reveals that she’s pregnant with twins. Wolf confronts Nicky, and Nicky goads Wolf into violence. This only makes Pascalle feel more sympathetic to Nicky, especially when it seems his car has been stolen. The next day, the car is found burnt out, and graffitied. Pascalle instantly assumes Loretta is responsible, but Cheryl, seeing that Nicky is handling this too well, decides to confront Loretta herself. Loretta insists she’s innocent, and Cheryl is beginning to believe her. Judd finds that Grandpa has laid it on the line with Ngaire. Grandpa has also received a down payment on favours which have made him all the more determined to go ahead with the wedding. Judd fears the worst and sets off to track Grandpa, as Pascalle is disgusted to find that Cheryl believes Loretta. Pascalle is also annoyed that Cheryl still hasn’t told Judd about the pregnancy, and puts in a call to him. This only buggers up Judd’s surveillance. He now finds that Grandpa has plans to get cut price catering from Falani. Judd is disgusted and ready to resign as best man.

Meanwhile, Wolf finally visits Sheree to call it quits. Upset and angry, she bombards him with crockery, as Pascalle arrives home in a shiny new car. Wolf now visits Cheryl to let her know that Sheree is history – assuming that she will want him back. Cheryl lets him know that she’s moved on, but Wolf refuses to believe it. Cheryl returns home to find that Pascalle has bought Nicky a new car to replace the one burned by Loretta. At this, Cheryl fronts her suspicion that Nicky burnt out the car himself. Pascalle, appalled, turns on Cheryl, as Grandpa suggests that if Pascalle has money, she could pay for his wedding. To spite Cheryl, Pascalle agrees, and also reveals that Cheryl is pregnant. Cheryl finally has to tell Judd the truth. And rather than feeling trapped, he is over the moon.

Conspirators Wolf and Loretta realise they’ve been outplayed by the Greegans. Wolf might be down, but he’s not out. He’s already plotting their next move.
