Yes, Rachel Lang and I are fully involved in all the casting decisions. Along with John Laing, the Producer, and our fellow Executive Producer Simon Bennett, we view all the audition tapes and make a collective decision based on those. Any new on-going characters then have to be given the tick of approval by TV3. Hope that answers your question.

South Pacific Pictures hires all actors and extras from professional acting agencies. If you want to be an actor on Outrageous Fortune, you must have an acting agent.

Unfortunately, no. The studios are our working environment and therefore bringing groups of public through on a regular basis is disruptive to cast and crew. We do reserve a few walk-on parts per series for charity and/or large scale promotions (i.e. radio competitions etc), but please understand these limited due to disruption, maintaining confidentiality and various other constraints.

Most of the sets are studio based. Other areas on the show are mainly in West Auckland or in the greater Auckland region.

Please refer to the FAQs at the top of our FAQ page. A DVD of the series won’t be released until all those episodes have aired. For this reason, series five won’t be released on DVD until later this year. We’ll announce it when this happens.
