Geraldine High School is located in the small town of Geraldine (population 2800) and is endeavouring to send a squad of 26 rugby players to the Gold Coast, Australia, in July 2010 to compete, for the first time, in an international rugby tournament. This will involve competition games in the Canterbury Gold Coast Rugby Carnival and the Palm Beach Currumbin Tens Festival.

This is an exciting new initiative supported by the school, the team’s coaches, players and their parents. We now have the task of raising $65,000 in order for these players to represent Geraldine across the ‘ditch’.

The players are working hard for this once in a life time opportunity and have already completed many weekends’ worth of working bees – clearing stones from paddocks, harvesting vegetables, cutting firewood, washing cars, sausage sizzles, and so on. Nothing is too small or too great for these boys.

As another part of this fund raising drive, we will be holding a giant auction in March and are hoping you might be prepared to donate an item we could auction. Our theme for the evening is Successful Kiwis – Home & Away and we believe you certainly lead the way in living up to that ideal.
