I had the lovely company of smee yesterday to see this movie. Overall it was very well done, nicely filmed, and the two young actors really stood out. Like smee, I struggled with the character of Gazza who I found really annoying. There was nothing likable about him so I found it difficult that he took up much screen time. I loved the storyline but thought that the impact of Gazza's selfishness on the older boy and on his wife Gail (Robyn) could have been stronger. It was great to see Robyn in a different role, and I wish that she'd had more screentime. She played the role of the suffering mother very well. A surprising twist at the end rounded it off nicely.
