it's definitely the commune guy... Also known as "the guy who's going for mayor".
He joined the commune after he split with rita (he stated that he started having lots of sex somewhere down the line). -

I wonder if Gary actually found this out(Vern is his father) somewhere along the way.
Will be interesting to see what Loretta does next week.
penguin- good news, tv tuner is finally here :-) which is good because it will give me a week to play with it and get used to it. It will be nice to have high definition.
phattcat, I owe you an email in about 3-4 days. -

Interesting, I can't remember what Gary said about Vern, might have to re-watch those episodes now.... -

Gary got the hippy commune land, but that was through Jethro. I don't actually remember Vern and Gary interracting at all. Although it wouldn't suprise me if this twist involved Corky in there as well. -

Is anyone else finding this seasons four episodes a bit dark and humourless? This is a brilliant programe but if it keeps going down this path I think it will loose people. I should hate that to happen -

Well... it hasn't been as funny as the last season, but we're sure in for a cracker episode 5 that's for sure -

I think...it has lost it's humour. It's a lot more serious and dark (Jethro's exit, Cheryl + Wolf) and I'm starting to get sick of Cheryl's anger, which seems to roar in every episode.. -

Tui does have a point, the series so far has been quite dark. There have been some funny moments ie the Jethro walking in on Shree and Wolf flashback; but we have to remember that the Wests are struggling a bit.
I hope that the series lightens up a bit. Episode 4 was more a lead-in to the major events that are going to happen during the rest of the season... There is still more to come and I'm not ready to give up on this series yet. -

Well season-3 started out all dark. Remember Aurora died in S3-E3. Then Van going through his awful times coping with losing Aurora. Season-3 didn't lighten up until Ep12 or so.
This season they'd had to wrap up a lot of loose threads and plotlines and set up new ones. But about S4-E4 yes it was a slight letdown and not as funny as usual. Maybe Grandpa just isn't a big enough character to focus a whole ep. on. I mean he's great as a side story and wonderful as comic relief.
Plus it's sad to see an old man have his memories trashed like Grandpa's has in regards to Rita.
I think the next ep.[S4E4] will develop these new storylines and the normal fun and highjinx we are accustomed to will ensue. -

Very true spderman.
Season 3 started darker than season 4 has, besides Aurora's death there were the episodes with 'mean' van.
But one of the things I love so much about this show is the mix of drama and comedy - like real life there are patches of drama and patches of extra laughs.
The grandpa story had to be sorted and it also helped set up Loretta's change and (I hope) set Cheryl and Judd on their path back together. -
